NGC is a comprehensive database of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and related documents. NGC is an initiative of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. NGC was originally created by AHRQ in partnership with the American Medical Association and the American Association of Health Plans (now America's Health Insurance Plans [AHIP]).

Linking to HTML View for a Specific Guideline

The HTML view of a summary displays a simplified view of the guideline content without any of the navigation or site features. To create a link directly to this view, you need to append "&html=true" to the address of the guideline summary. Example:

Retrieving Specific Pages of Search Results

Web developers can now retrieve a specific page of NGC search results and display them on other Web pages. This feature enables Web developers to limit the number of results and provide pagination of NGC search results on their Web pages.

To use this feature, please follow these steps:

  • Retrieve a specific page of search results by adding &startPage=X to the end of the URL for search results.
  • Replace X with the page number that you want.

After making these changes, the startPage parameter will be indexed to 0, so that the first page of results is 0, the second page is 1, the third page is 2, and so on. By default, each page contains 20 results. For the first page of results, the startPage parameter is optional.

For example, NGC search results for the search term "healthy" would look like this: and return more than 1,000 results. By default, results 1-20 for the search term "healthy" are displayed on page 1, results 21-40 are on page 2, etc. To get results 61-80, change the URL to
